United States Merchant Accounts

Banks in the United States permit credit card merchant accounts for what are typically considered low to medium risk businesses. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Swiped transactions
  • Card Present transactions
  • MOTO (mail order and telephone order)
  • E-Commerce (low to medium risk businesses)

United States banks restrict certain businesses that are considered high risk. Although this may change as the banks change their policy, common high risk businesses that are prohibited in the United States Merchant Account industry include, but are not limited to:

  • Online Pharmacies
  • Online Gambling
  • Marijuana

A business wishing to secure a United States merchant account in the above industries would find it extremely difficult, if not impossible to do so. The smart solution for these types of businesses is to apply for an offshore merchant account.  Please contact MNBS Payment Solutions for more information.
